UX leadership beliefs and approaches

My core principles

User Experience is core strategy

Including UX research in the initial phases of the business strategy is a sure fire way to have success. In general. An effective product strategy and direction is created by behavioural research teams. UX teams don’t just execute, they first and foremost strategise and critically think about how to make their users satisfied. While working as a team lead, I noticed that the more often UX is kept in the bigger business decisions and steer the directions of the decisions of the product team, more often then not, they can catch issues and patterns before they become problems.

UX team growth ensures company growth
Growing a UX teams experiences in exploring research techniques, tools and can see a roadmap of their future with the company, this encourages them to stick around. When UX teams aren’t learning new things or feeling like they are improving their craft, the motivation stagnates. A growing UX team brings a wider range of perspectives and skills. This fosters a culture of innovation, leading to the development of new features and solutions that keep the company ahead of the curve.

Investing in UX team growth is an investment in the future of the company.

Focus on the customer/user

UX teams act as the voice of the user. Scoping in time for user research and testing, teams can identify user needs, pain points, and frustrations with a product or service, rather than just executing which is often the only time that is available to them. This user feedback creates a feedback loop. By understanding user needs, the UX team can design solutions that are more usable and enjoyable. This, in turn, leads to higher user satisfaction, engagement, and loyalty. Satisfied users are more likely to become repeat customers and recommend the product to others.

Happy users = Happy Business
